IQUITOS Is a subject's consent enough to prevent photographic exploitation? How can we judge a photographer’s intent from the surface of their work? The following series reflects on such questions, exploring the ethical dilemmas facing photographers. These are not portraits, but rather reflections of my struggle with ignorance in sharing the stories of marginalized communities in the Peruvian Amazon. Each subject gave me their consent for their portrait to be taken, yet a sense of discomfort remains.
